The ones where we read books in bed and have to pause every few pages to giggle, ask questions, discuss, and then get back on track. The ones where we chat through history questions during lunch & grab board games instead of workbooks. The ones where the toddler has every block strewn across the floor and there is confetti covering the table made of construction paper from the big kid’s latest creative project. ✂️ When we were new homeschoolers I feared days that didn’t look structured & tidy. But through the years I’ve come to understand that learning happens anywhere and in any environment if we are open to it. Embracing what homeschooling could be took time & a lot of deschooling but now it seems like a no-brainer. Being at home gives us more freedom, flexibility, the ability to wear comfy pants, and a lot of quality time together. So why not embrace it instead of trying to replicate the school system at home? 🤷🏼‍♀️ On paper, we haven’t done much today. But in reality we connected , we laughed, we problem solved, we made things with our hands, we asked questions, we were creative, and we worked as a team. All in all, a successful day of learning in this mom’s book. And the best part is...it will look completely different tomorrow.
